Have you caught the Christmas bug yet?

We’re eager to get you out and making the very most that the city can offer more than ever this festive season. Whether getting the all-important shopping sorted, or celebrating another year with friends, Sheffield after 5pm really is bursting with activity.

Each week in the run-up to the big day we’ll be solving Crimbo queries to help you navigate your way through what can be a pretty hectic time of year.

Next up in our #ChristmasCountdown series:

“I’ve got one last person to buy for this #Christmas, and I’m stumped for what to get them as they’re locals and a bottle of Hendo’s just won’t cut it. @SheffAfter5 can you help? Something Sheff-related please! #MerrilyFrom5”

Luckily for us, Sheffield is far from short of fantastic businesses offering something for everyone as we turn to gifting locally in the city centre.

In many ways we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping online for something a little bit different – but you’ll be kicking yourself when you see how much cooler and more personal these gifts are for those special Sheffielders in your life.

Sheffield Honey Co. at the Millennium Gallery Gift Shop

Spread (get it?) some joy this Christmas by gifting a jar or two of honey from none other than the Sheffield Honey Company. You’ll find pure Blossom, Soft Set, Borage and the finest Heather honey from the Peak District for sale at the treasure trove that is the Millennium Gallery shop. De-licious.

‘Sheffield Fog’ Birdhouse Tea Bar and Kitchen, Sidney Street, open until 10pm

If you haven’t tried the tea at Birdhouse yet, take yourself off to the Sidney Street haven for a spot of ‘market research’ and try the ‘Sheffield Fog’. Freshly brewed Earl Grey tea combined with silky steamed milk and vanilla, this is a ‘reyt old treat. Consider it the epitome of Sheffield: herbal notes referencing the Peak District, with an edge of musty tone harking back to the city’s industrial past - topped off with a whole lotta sweetness – summing up Sheffielders pretty perfectly, I’d say.

Along with plenty of Christmas blends you’ll also find Peak District-inspired blends and Sheffield ones, including the ‘Full Monty’! Find out more about what’s on offer by popping in to the shop (open 8am until 10pm daily).

Anything from Sheffield Makers, Winter Garden, open until 5.30pm

True to form as a true Sheffield hidden gem, the Sheffield Makers Shop is tucked inside the Winter Garden, selling all the very best from Sheffield’s makers and artists. Find the shop next to Zooby’s café selling everything from prints, cards, mugs, enamel pins, to jewellery, stationery, toys and cards. Essentially, it’s the perfect place to pick up something made right here in the Outdoor city. We’re particularly fond of the Hendo’s mugs and prints…

Prints from MoonKo

Ever the best place in Sheffield city centre to pick up a succulent or three, MoonKo also stocks a number of unique prints emulating the fantastic scenery that this city inhabits. Whether you’re after the clean-cut linocut prints of the Arts Tower or the enchanting architecture of the Peace Gardens, MoonKo has you covered for stand-out gifts that have been made with love. Pick up some homemade MoonKo soap and treat yourself too, while you’re at it.

Printed By us at Birds Yard, Chapel Walk, open until 6pm

‘Strong and Northern’. Yep, that’s the Sheffield spirit – and Printed By us is making so much more than just your Sheffield mates happy with its fantastic designs.

Through teaching homeless and vulnerable Sheffield people the art of screen printing, PBu aims to equip people with the skills necessary to build confidence and move towards a fulfilling life. Small batches of unique artwork, designed by Sheffield’s finest creatives, are printed and signed by both the artist and screen printer.

As a fresh addition to the Bird’s Yard independent makers community, you’ll find PBu products alongside loads and (we mean) loads of other unique gifts simply perfect for a Sheffield local. Don’t believe us? Check its website and get down to Chapel Walk ASAP.

This homage to Hendo’s from Rich Wells and Henderson’s Relish is a particular favourite here at AA5 HQ.

In the mood to get out and ace that Christmas shopping? Check the city's extended Christmas opening hours before heading out.
