Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing, the Millennium Gallery, 1st February-5th May
For those of you wondering when you’ll get the chance to see Millennium Gallery’s latest, much talked about exhibition, Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing, the Gallery is keeping its doors open until 8pm every Thursday (except 7 & 21 Mar) to give even more visitors the opportunity to see the breathtaking works on display in person.
With much of his life’s work going unnoticed or destroyed, the exhibition will commemorate the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death by showcasing the inspiring drawings that represent the artist’s astounding achievements, including a study for one of the world’s most famous paintings, the Last Supper. Site Gallery are celebrating their 40th year with a series of exhibitions for you to delve into, looking at moments, connections and memories from Site’s past. With pieces from the Gallery’s archives, Re:Collections takes a look at how histories are remembered, recorded and retold through the works of three influential artists; Susan Hiller, influential pioneer of video art and multimedia installation, Elizabeth Price, maker of immersive video installations which feature diverse historical materials, and Georgina Starr, developer of distinct language through the use of video, sculpture, performance, writing and sound. Artist Talk: Linda Benedict-Jones, the Millennium Gallery, 28th February, 6-8pm
Eager to hear more about an artist’s work directly from the artist themselves? Millennium Gallery’s latest Artist Talk lets you enjoy an evening of insight from American photographer and curator, Linda Benedict-Jones.
Sheffield was one of the cities that Benedict-Jones photographed whilst travelling across Europe in the 1970s, composing a series of powerful black and white images that explored themes of presence and absence in both rural and urban spaces. This event will give you the chance to hear from Benedict-Jones as she speaks about her career and photographs that are currently on display in the Graves Gallery.
