Sheffield’s new bar Public has announced that it will open its doors on 24 November.

The bar, which can be found in the old men’s toilets under the Town Hall – don’t worry, they’ve had a complete makeover – is being run by the same team behind The Great Gatsby on West Street and Picture House Social out on Abbeydale Road.

The bar’s new look has been kept under wraps, with only a few teaser pictures appearing in Public’s Instagram stories in the last few weeks. It’s looking to be the perfect spot for a post-work cocktail, with some absolutely delicious looking cocktails and mocktails also appearing on the bar’s Insta.

The menu seems to have taken the classics and given them a special Public twist, and some even have Sheffield inspired names. Skye’s Edge is a blend of saffron infused Talisker Storm whiskey, tio pepper fino sherry, white cacao, crème de banana and salted Pedro Ximenez sherry – divine!

For the non-drinkers, there is the La-Di-Da Colada, a concoction of pineapple juice, coconut water, coco real, tarragon oil, and lime. Or for fans of fruit, the Rubus Spritz – apple juice, blackberries, lemon, topped with soda.

The bar will open on 24 November, but if you can’t wait until then, Public’s sister bar The Great Gatsby has special offers on cocktails throughout the week.
