Our Bun-licious Picks for National Burger Day

A beautifully crafted patty, sandwiched between two crisp, yet still soft buns - is there anything better than a burger? Whoever created National Burger Day on August 25th is an absolute genius!

Wondering where to go to celebrate? Take a look at our picks.

Bungalows and Bears

These guys know how to do burgers right. They’ve got traditional beef patties with Monterey Jack cheese, chicken burgers if that’s more your taste, and bean or mushroom burgers for the veggies.

Want something different? We recommend the Katsu burger - southern fried chicken with Katsu curry sauce, yes, it really is as good as it sounds.

Frog & Parrot

This inner city pub has got so many burgers, you’ll want them all! They’ve got your standard beef and chicken burgers - but what we’re really interested in is the more unusual options.

The Dirty Burger features beef chilli con carne, onions, jalapenos and mustard, while the Chick Trio Burger has got crispy buttermilk chicken, pulled piri piri chicken, cheese and Louisiana chicken strips. Our mouths are watering already!

If you’re not feeling the meat this National Burger Day, we suggest their Falafel Burger. As if this many options wasn’t enough, when you buy a burger at Frog & Parrot, you can get a drink for just £1

Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Burger by name, burger by nature, Gourmet Burger Kitchen’s menu is separated into beef, chicken, speciality and veggie sections. You’ll be spoilt for choice!

If you fancy something a little more unusual, try one of their lamb or buffalo burgers. Made with a lamb patty, beetroot & mint hummus, whipped goat’s cheese and cajun relish, the Psychobilly sounds mouthwatering. If you’re not feeling the bun, you can even replace it with their homeslaw and a simple green salad or chargrilled corn.

8oz Burger Co.

8oz Burger Co.’s menu features 30 - yes 30! - burgers, plus their specials. Every burger you could ever dream of is on the menu. There’s even a burger with waffles instead of a bun which sounds seriously tasty. If you’re in the mood for white meat, they’ll let you substitute beef for chicken in any of their burgers, plus they’ve got gluten free and veggie options.

You could even push yourself this National Burger Day by taking on their man vs. food challenge. With four beef burgers, bacon, cheese and half a pound of fries, it’s certainly a mountain of food. The best part is, if you finish it in 15 minutes you’ll get it for free!

Grab your mates, colleagues, family, friends, other half and anyone else you can think of, to enjoy a quality burger after 5pm.
