Who said autumn was time to kick back and relax?

As one the of the UK’s leading sportswear chains, Decathlon in Sheffield city centre is raring and ready to get us lot up and at ‘em as the temperature drops and the leaves begin to fall.

Over the next couple of weeks, get involved in some of the events curated by Decathlon in partnership with Unity Yoga and Cycle to the Cinema, and get the most out of what’s left of 2018.

Join National Geographic Adventurers of the Year Erik Boomer, Sarah McNair Landry and Ben Stookesberry as they showcase the feature-length adventure film from acclaimed filmmaker Simon Hunter: ‘Into Two Galaxies’, and show unseen footage from the trek. With presentations from two of the kayakers, Erik Boomer and Sarah McNair, it’ll be a fantastic opportunity to meet two world-renowned kayakers, both with the acclaim of being National Geographic Adventurers of the Year.

Cycle along, grab something to eat and drink and be in awe. Doors open 8pm, film starts 8.15pm. Store closes at 8pm, but tills will remain open during event.

Yoga and Wellbeing with Unity Yoga, 15 November, 7pm

In this two-hour session led by Sophia from Unity Yoga, learn more about the benefits of yoga and ask any questions you have in this relaxed Q&A session (there’ll even be tea!). In the second hour, Sophia will host a gentle yoga class suitable for all. In this class there’ll be some elements of physical practice and a healthy dose on relaxation.

As it’s a non-competitive practice, there is never any pressure to do more than what feels comfortable and right within your own body.

Got your own mat? Feel free to bring it along, however they will also be provided on the night. Cosy socks and jumpers are a must for relaxation at the end!

Catch the UK’s most compelling stories from the vertical world as the Brit Rock Film tour stops off in Sheffield to feature films of some of the country’s most popular climbers.

See:

Brazilian, 20 minutes, directed by Rob Johnson and Alastair Lee. A maverick bunch of Brits go big wall hunting in Brazil.

Just Anna, 15 minutes, directed by Alastair Lee. Join lakes-based 20-year-old Anna as she faces all the challenges and difficulties on her journey to one of the great unclimbed lines.

North Base, 5 minutes, directed by Alastair Lee. This short film introduces us to Tim Howell’s way of life and his long-term goal of being the first to climb and jump all six of the classic alpine north faces.

Whiz Kid: Raindshadow, 20 minutes, directed by Paul Diffley. In 2016 at the age of just 17, William Bosi became the youngest Brit to climb the ultimate magic grade: 9a. Whiz Kid: follows William’s journey to climb Steve McClure’s Malham test piece, Rainshadow.

Free Flow, 7 minutes, directed by Paul Diffley. Hazel Findlay enjoys an epic day of mountain running and solo climbing in the Welsh mountains of Snowdonia.

Blood Moon, 20 minutes, directed by Alastair Lee. The film follows Robbie Phillips, Calum Cunningham and Alan Carne as they attempt to open a new climb, ground up, on a 700m Big Wall; Tsaranoro Atsimo in Madagascar.

Undiscovered, 10 minutes, directed by Chris Prescott. ‘Undiscovered’ explores the passion for pioneering first ascents and examines the effort that goes into developing new routes as Dave MacLoed unearths more jewels on the crags that seemingly just keep on giving.

Total running time approx. 90 minutes.
